Many rescue teams deployed in Wayanad resumed their operations to trace people suspected to be trapped in the Wayanad landslides tragedy

Rescue operations are underway after landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains, at Chooralmala in the Wayanad district


District authorities in Kerala’s landslide-struck Wayanad on July 31 started collecting data to determine the number of people missing following the massive tragedy, as rescue operations resumed to trace persons suspected to be trapped. Helicopters will be used to airlift injured persons from the affected areas.

Members of several families have reported that their loved ones remain untraced. In Wayanad, 45 relief camps have been established, accommodating 3,069 people. Meanwhile, various rescue agencies resumed their operations early in the morning to trace people suspected to be trapped in the tragedy, which has killed at least 150 people and left 197 injured.

The Kerala Government has declared a state of mourning on July 30 and 31. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 as compensation for the injured. The Kerala Government has opened two control rooms to attend to distress calls from citizens ( 9656938689 and 8086010833).

Sachin Tendulkar recalls last conversation with Anshuman Gaekwad: ‘Grit and straightforward nature stood out’

Sachin Tendulkar has mourned the death of former India coach and cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad, saying he was a part of some wonderful memories in Indian cricket and his grit and straightforward nature always stood out. Gaekwad passed away on Saturday after a long battle with cancer. Gaekwad had been undergoing treatment for blood cancer at King's College Hospital in London. City fall to shoot-out defeat against Barcelona

  Manchester City were beaten 4-1 on penalties after playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Barcelona in front of a sell-out Orlando crowd. Kalvin Phillips  and  Jacob Wright  were the unlucky City players to see their penalties saved in front of 63,237 supporters at the Camping World Stadium. Barcelona took the lead through Pau Victor’s low finish, with Nico O’Reilly’s equaliser then cancelled out by Pablo Torre on the stroke of half-time. City deservedly drew level though when  Jack Grealish  found the top corner after great work from  Mateo Kovacic  before the hour mark. Pep Guardiola ’s men pressed for an advantage until the end, but would ultimately fall to the lottery of a shoot-out in our third pre-season friendly.
